What I am playing recently on PSP?

There ain't many games on PSP lately frankly. It is a widely known dry season, even though the hardware itself still sells pretty well in Japan. I have to say it is a mixed feeling for myself. I really crave for the games like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII or God of War: Chains of Olympus. Well, the big titles are yet to be released in Japan (let alone the English-spoken regions) like Phantasy Star Portable, Dissidia Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts: Birth of Sleep and more... So, there are two games that I am currently playing from time to time. I can't say I like them so much.

Secret Agent Clank is a platformer developed by High Impact Games exclusively for the PlayStation Portable as a spin-off to the Ratchet and Clank series. The story begins with Clank's best friend Ratchet being (falsely) arrested for stealing a huge priceless diamond from a museum. So, Clank, as a secret agent needs to figure a way to rescue him by proving him he is innocent. I am not really a big fan of platformer because I can be very clumsy for that. The game is squeezed with a lot of mini-games, a lot! Some don't even really make sense. But, luckily most (so-far) could be quite fun (well, can be quite frustrating too). Anyway, the game itself is not really bad. If 10 is perfect, I would give 7 to presentation, 7 to game play, 6 to audio, 6 to control, so overall would be 7. For the drought season, I think this game seems to be like a droplet of life source in an oasis.

The next game would be Space Invaders Extreme. It is a re-vamped incarnation of the classic arcade game Space Invaders. It has been released to mark the 30th anniversary of Space Invaders which saw its original arcade release in 1978. So, basically the game play is the same as the arcade version, but for the PSP it has some enhanced background (dancing moving) graphics and some techno musics accompanying the game-play. I didn't play a lot of games in arcade center in my childhood, yet I know this game pretty well. So, you could imagine the popularity of this game. And, it can be quite fun to play the classic. I really think this game is a nice collection to those classics (even better than some). So, let me say 7 to presentation (due to the nice graphics at the background), 7 to audio (the techno music is seamlessly playing during the game play), 7 to game play (quite frantic and fast-paced, which is a good improvement!), and 8 to control (simple, intuitive, and nothing complex about that). So, overall would be 7.
